Hair Transplant in London: Cost Compared with Riga

What London clinics charge, why the capital sits at the top of the UK price range, and how the same procedure compares at our Riga clinic with flights included.

London has one of the densest clusters of hair transplant clinics anywhere in the UK, and also some of the highest prices. That is not surprising: rent, staffing and running costs in central London are steep, and those overheads end up in the per-graft fee. This page sets out what you can realistically expect to pay in the capital, explains what drives the numbers, and gives you a fair comparison with the same procedure at our clinic in Riga. To be clear from the outset, we are not a London clinic — our surgery takes place in Riga, and London patients simply fly out for a short trip.

What a hair transplant costs in London

London clinics generally price per graft, and rates here tend to be at the top of the national scale, commonly £4 to £7 per graft against a UK-wide range of roughly £3 to £6. That means a 2,500-graft case — a fairly typical mid-sized procedure — often lands between £10,000 and £17,500 in the capital. Prestige addresses and heavily marketed clinics can push higher still. As everywhere in the UK, none of this is available on the NHS for ordinary pattern hair loss, so it is a private cost you budget for in full.

Why London is the priciest UK option

Three things stack up. First, premises: consulting and operating space in central London costs a great deal more than in most of the country. Second, staffing: experienced surgeons and technicians command London salaries. Third, marketing: highly visible clinics spend heavily on advertising, and that spend is recovered through fees. None of this makes London clinics bad — many are excellent — but it does explain why the same graft count can cost noticeably more here than a hundred miles away, let alone abroad.

London vs Riga, flights included

Because the honest comparison counts travel, here is how a 2,500-graft FUE procedure looks side by side:

ItemTypical London clinicRubenhair, Riga
Per-graft rate£4–£7from £1.90
2,500-graft procedure£10,000–£17,500from £4,750
Return flights from Londonn/aroughly £80–£200
Nights away01–2

London has several airports with direct routes to Riga, and the flight is only a little over two and a half hours, so the trip is genuinely easy to fit around work. Even after flights and a short stay, most London patients keep a substantial saving against a comparable procedure in the capital. You can build your own figure with the cost calculator or see the detail on our price list.

Comparing like with like

A lower price only counts if the surgery is done well, so compare on substance. Ask any clinic — London or Riga — who performs the extraction and placement, how many grafts they recommend and why, what the aftercare involves, and what happens if you have questions later. A complete quote should include your consultation and plan, the procedure and materials, anaesthetic and same-day medication, an aftercare kit, follow-up reviews and a graft survival assurance. When the packages match, the cost gap is what remains to weigh up.

Deciding as a London patient

If you are near a good London clinic and would rather not travel at all, the convenience may be worth the premium to you, and that is a perfectly reasonable choice. If the price difference matters more than a two-night trip, flying to Riga puts the same category of procedure within reach for far less. Either way, start with real numbers: a free online consultation gives you a written, itemised quote for your specific case, so you can compare it directly against any London estimate and decide with confidence.
